This is another popcorn movie, park your brain and enjoy the ride action adventure by Reilly. Is the season finale style cliffhanger ending. This one actually surpasses Seven Deadly Wonders in outlandish stunts boobytraps and action sequences. But the moment that kills it. Sure the characters are flat and seemingly inspired by 1970's and 80's cartoons but they are still fun. That is what escapist reading is all about so Relax and park your brain for physically impossible blow your mind action from the author from 'Down Under'.
this is my first Reilly book and i have to say i enjoyed a great deal. I usually only read Stephen King or Micheal Crichton and this book came recommmended to me and I'am glad i did read it. This is purely actioned over the top that makes Indiana Jones look like a preschool nap time. I do recommend you try this book and enjoy it as much as i did, I have to say this was a much wellcome change of pace than what I'am use to reading and look forward to reading the sequal to this one.
If you haven't read Seven Deadly Wonders, I highly suggest reading it first as it is the predecessor to this story. The illustrations from Seven Deadly Wonders are also present in this book. Before you know it, you've finished the book, furious with the cliffhanger (yes folks you'll have to read Five Greatest Warriors to conclude this tale). Reilly really brings everything back into the fold so it's easy to pick back up from the events of Seven Deadly Wonders. Be sure to read my review for Five Greatest Warriors upon its U.S. This time we find Jack West and crew in search of six pillars located at different ends of the earth in order to stop Earth's destruction yet again, but this time, from a force unseen. If you've already read it, or if you want to know more about the story of Jack West and his gang before purchasing these books, then please read on.I dove right into this book immediately after finishing Seven Deadly Wonders. Reilly really takes the guess work out of the settings with layouts and diagrams to assist the reader.
New friendly faces are added to the story and new antagonists are introduced, including one that will explain a lot about Jack's past. As always, there is sheer action and adventure around every corner and a lot of "history" that will have you fact checking over and over again. This story flows smoothly and engulfs the reader just like its predecessor. I highly recommend this book as well as its predecessor Seven Deadly Wonders. release in January 2010.
I hate the ending. This is like a season ending series cliffhanger on TV. How long must we be kept in the "Dark" to see if the hero survives. Great read, couldn't put it down.
This book is like all of Reilly's works, over the top and very entertaining. From an historical stand his stories are ridiculous. I would honestly suggest that anyone who has never read one of his books check one out from a library before buying. His stories aren't on the same level as Brown, Rollins, or Cluster but they aren't meant to be. But that is why his fans love him. The end of this book was frustrating but a great cliff hanger
